St Bernard Dog Temperament and Lifespan
Saint Bernards are known for their rescue abilities. They became famous after saving about 2,000 people trapped in avalanches. These dogs are able to search for injured humans, that is why they are still used in mountain rescues. However, Saint Bernards are great family companions as well. When puppies, they are very clumsy but as they grow up, they become more alert and are always ready to run around in the yard. They like playing with children too. Saints adore snow and can entertain themselves for a long time pulling kids on sleds. They are friendly and steady by nature, tolerant and careful with children. The dogs of this breed will demand attention from time to time. Because of their big size, start training Saints early at age to make them obedient since puppyhood. These family dogs usually live 8 to 10 years.
